The city of
Pune is usually praised as cultural crater of Maharashtra state. The city has
calendar full of festivals and celebrations. Mostly you are aware about Ganesh Mahotsav
that is celebrated in whole state with great fun and fare but there are many
others that are celebrated with same spirit of festivity. Here are some prominently celebrated
festivals of the town-
The Ganesh Mahotsav-It was initiated by great freedom
fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak to bring together the youths. The city
roads are blocked for almost ten days due to the enthusiastic celebrations of
the festival.
Sawai Gandharva-It is held in the month of December
from dawn to dusk. The great maestros of Indian Classical music made this
famous amongst Indian as well as foreign artists. It started in 1960’s to give
patronage to art of the whole world.
Osho Festival-The International crowd puller
festival in the city started by the followers of spiritual Guru Osho. It is
held in Osho ashram, Koregaon Park and attended by large number of Osho’s
Disciples.
Chaturshringi Fair-The annual celebration held
overnight on navratri season. The delicious food and giant wheel are main
attractions of the festivity.
Pune International Film Festival-You can enjoy some of the remarkable
movies from all around the world in this annual celebration of Film fraternity.
It usually takes place in January and lasts for a week. It is not less than a
treat for the movie lovers in the city.
